Dear ATA Members and Friends,

 

We thank each one of you from the bottom of our hearts for attending and making the ATA Vijaya Dashami Vedukalu held on Saturday October 24th, 2015 a grand success.

 

Since last 1 month there were about  thousands of man hours invested behind the huge success of this mega event which includes the man hours of all the participants and their parents, choreographers, volunteers, sponsors, vendors, MC's, Colonie Central High School crew and ATA team. 

 

Thanks to artists Mrs. Vijaya Lakshmi garu, Mrs. Sameera Bharadwaj garu, and Mr. Saketh Komanduri garu for their delightful performance.

 

Thanks to Mr. & Mrs. Govind Rao garu for accepting our request and for their valuable time and message to the audience.

 

Thanks to Event sponsors ($100, $50, $25) for their valuable monetary support in making this a successful event.

 

Special Thanks to Choreographers & Participants for their tremendous efforts in making our program a success. They looked gorgeous in their costume & their splendid performance was simply superb.

Albany Telugu Association ( ATA) cordially invites you and your family to join us for   "Vijaya Dashami Vedukalu " on  Saturday, October 24th, 2015  at Colonie Central High School Auditorium (Main Entrance) 1 Raider Blvd, Colonie, NY - 12205.  
 
The day is filled with exciting and entertaining events including local talent (Classical/Semi Classical dance, Folk/Filmy dance, Comedy/Concept Skit, and etc...) and external talent.
 
Special Guests include:
  • Famous Telugu female playback singer - Vijaya Lakshmi garu
  • Famous Telugu male Super singer - Saketh Komanduri garu 
Registration begins at 3:00 pm, and Cultural programs start at 3:30 pm.
Note: Dinner & Snacks are available for purchase at the venue from Flavors of India Spicy Mint.  
 
Admission: (Free for kids and senior citizens)
  • For ATA Members - $5 per person
  • For Non-ATA Members - $8 per person
Sponsorship: 
We humbly request everyone to contribute at least a minimum of $25 to help cover the event expenses. 
  • All the event sponsors names with $100, and $50 will be printed on event brochure and displayed on the power point presentation during the event, and special seating will be reserved. The names on the brochure will be printed for those who sponsored the said amount by 10/20/2015.
  • All the event sponsors names with $25 will be displayed on the power point presentation during the event.
  • Two tags will be given to the event sponsor. 
  • Please get your sponsor tickets with any of the board members or at the front desk on the event day.
Pindi Vantala Poti:
Cooking specialty food items is a BIG part of all of our Indian festivals. Albany Telugu Association has successfully organized Pindivantala Poti competition over the past few years. So to continue the tradition we are conducting Pindivantala Poti as part of this year’s Vijaya Dashami Vedukalu event. The competition is being held in only the Sweet category. Exciting prizes will be awarded to the winners.
 
 
Rules/Guidelines:
  • Any authentic Indian sweet item made with some kind of flour (wheat, rice, besan etc ..) is considered ‘pindi vanta’ and is eligible for this competition.
  • Examples of sweet items: Arisalu, Kajji kayalu, Sunni undalu,Bobbatlu,Boorelu,Mysore paak etc …
  • Please note that sweets like payasam, pongali, ravva kesari etc..are NOT considered pindi vantalu.
  • This is a cooking competition. So, no store items PLEASE.
  • Each participant needs to bring at least 12 nos /1 lb of the item that they are cooking.
  • Participants need to provide the recipe with ingredients details,preparation method and duration it took to prepare the item. Do not write your name or initials on the recipe.
  • Participants need to bring their dish along with their recipe details and hand it over to the Pindivantala Poti coordinator Manjula Salgam garu Colonie Central High School Auditorium on Oct 24th between 3:00 pm to 4:00 pm. Dishes brought in after 4:00 pm will not be considered for the contest.

  • Judges decisions are FINAL.

We would like to Thank all the Volunteers for their incredible help at various stations that includes  ATA Bathukamma preparation, vegetable cutting, food cooking, set up the chairs, tables, and banner, set up the arrangements at the pond, Bathukamma Nimajjanam, photography, video, food serving, and cleaning. Again, this would not have been possible without your cooperation and efforts.

Dear ATA Members and Friends,

We extend our heart felt Thanks to each one of you for attending the  2015 ATA Summer Picnic (Vana Bhojanalu)  with your family and friends and for making it another historical huge successful event.  

Weather was perfect and pleasant. Kids had a blast with their fun activities that included Bouncy Bounce, Funnel Tunnel, Pony Ride, Volleyball, and guided musical games etc.

One of the highlights of the event in this year's picnic was active participation of Grandparents in playing a game. They were very excited and enthusiastically determined to play this game where Grandmas decided to beat all the Grandpas. It was a memorable sight for many of the families whose parents were involved in this game. Contestants including the spectators and the organizers thoroughly enjoyed it.  Rest of the adults did had fun relaxing and listening to the music and played some more games that included spoon & marble race.  It was a great joy to see you all so casual and having good time as one big ATA family. Hope we continue this tradition for many years to come.

We would like to Thank all the Volunteers for their incredible help at various stations that includes set up, front desk, Cotton Candy, Pop corn making, Grilling Corn, Serving food items - Appetizers, Main Meal, Snacks, Water melon, Ice cream, Conducting games, Photography, Video, and Cleaning. Again this would not have been possible without your cooperation and efforts.

Albany Telugu Association (ATA) cordially invites you and your family to join ATA annual Summer Picnic 2015 (Vana Bhojanalu) at the ELM Avenue Town Park, Large Picnic Pavilion at: 261 Elm Ave, Delmar NY 12054, on Sunday, Aug 9th 2015 from 12 PM to 6 PM.

Some important instructions for the picnic :
  • Picnic entrance is free for ATA members, and children. There is a fee of $7 for Non-members.
  • Parking is free, park only in the designated parking spots. Parking is limited near the large pavilion, please park near large parking lots near the park entrance and walk to the pavilion.  Don't park on the grass or near the entrance or near fire hydrants.
  • Please check-in at the picnic welcome area and get your wrist bands by verifying your ATA membership or by paying the non-member ticket fees.
  • Please get the camping chairs (folding) if you want to sit out side of the pavilion on the shade.
  • There will be a vendors selling Indian clothes, and jewelry for your shopping pleasure while you are enjoying the picnic.
  • Please be advised that, the food served at the picnic contains nuts, if you or your children have any food allergies, please be careful.
  • There is no child care available, please take care of your kids while you are in the park. Please watch your kids while they playing in and around the Bouncy Bounce, Funnel Tunnel, and Pony Ride. Please be cautious while playing games, ATA is not responsible for any injuries or mishaps to anyone.
  • Swimming pool is only for residents with permit. Please watch your kids while they are swimming in the swimming pool or in the playground. ATA is not responsible for any swimming activities in the park.
  • Firewood or personal fireworks are not allowed in the park. Please stay away from the grilling area.

Cricket Tournament 2015:

Thanks to all the captains and team members from the bottom of our hearts for participating and making this ATA & V- Group Cricket Tournament 2015 a grand success. 

 

Congratulations to ATA & V-Group Cricket Tournament 2015 winners (JET Albany), runners (Virtusa Albany). And thanks for their generous contribution of their winning cash prize towards the charity event. 

 

Thanks to all the volunteers, umpires for their hard, and dedicated work, we all appreciate it and without their help, it won't be that successful. They worked hard by standing almost 18 hours in the hot weather with the temperature 86+ degrees Fahrenheit. No words to say thanks for their hard work. 

 

Thanks to V-Group Inc. for their generous sponsorship, and continued support to the ATA. Thanks to Mr. Vijay Kumar, and Mrs. Karolina for coming all the way from New Jersey, spending their valuable time, having their presence in the final match, and prize distribution.

ATA & V-Group Cricket Tournament 2015 updates:

Thanks to Captains & Players for enrolling in ATA & V-Group Cricket Tournament 2015. 

We will have league matches on Saturday. Semi Final and Final matches will be on Sunday. Please see the below schedule for more details.

Food arrangement - ATA will provide Donuts, Gatorade and Water to all the participating teams/players on free of cost. Since many of the teams will have to be there till 6:30 PM, we will have Spicy Mint (Indian restaurant) set up a food stall around 11:00 AM and you can buy the food from them.

Dear ATA Women Community, 

We extend our “Thanks” to each one of you from bottom of our hearts for being part of the celebration of one of the ATA’s historical breakthrough events i.e., first ever conducted Mahila Dinotsavam held on Sunday March 8th, 2015, and making it a grand success.  We do appreciate all your spouses and family for their cooperation in making it possible for you to attend our event. 

 

We did miss some of you who could not attend due to your other prior commitments.   

 

Thanks to New York State Assembly Woman Mrs. Patricia A. Fahy for accepting our request to be our chief guest despite her hectic schedule. Her speech was incredible and emphasized on importance of education, jobs, and the struggle that immigrants face trying to find their way in this country.

Dear ATA Women Community, 

Our 2015 team is extremely delighted to invite you to the celebration of Mahila Dinotsavam which is part of International Women’s Day on March 8th, 2015at our Hindu Cultural Center from 2pm to 6pm.

 

ATA is hosting this event for the first time. There are activities planned that includes for all women age groups.

 

They are Educative sessionsExciting fun games, & Entertainment. We do need your support and cooperation to organize this event. Please be generous and donations are highly welcome for the successful conduct of this event.

Dear ATA Members and Friends, 

We thank each one of you from the bottom of our hearts for attending and making the ATA Sankranthi Sambaraalu held on Saturday January 17th, 2015, a grand success. 

 

You all braved the weather and showed how much you love and care for the community. Your courage is commendable. Without any one of you, the event wouldn't have been held successfully. We appreciate all your patience and perseverance throughout the event. 

 

There were about  thousands of man hours involved behind the grand success of this mega event in the last two months which includes man hours of all the participants and their parents, choreographers, dedicated volunteers, sponsors, vendors, MC's, DJ, Temple Helpers, and ATA team. 

 

Thanks to Mimicry Ramesh garu for accepting our request to come over here, and for his wonderful performance.

 

Thanks to choreographers, participants, and the parents of the child participants for making our program a grand success. 

 

Thank to participants in Muggla poti, which has the highest turnout this time and Kite making competition which was introduced first time in ATA. Thank the parents in encouraging the kids to participate in those activities.

Last but not least our hearty thanks to all the volunteers, and also youth volunteers (introduced first time in ATAwho helped in shopping, cutting, cooking, serving, front desk, stage, audio system, muggula poti, kite making competition, cultural programs, arranging the auditorium and kitchen, and cleaning etc.,. Special thanks to food volunteers for cooking delicious dinner.
